The R.E.B.E.L TOUR

November 1-December 21, 2005

The R.E.B.E.L Tour is launching November 1, 2005. R.E.B.E.L (Rallying, Educating, & Building Effective Leadership) is a youth leadership program created this year by the Grassroots Artists MovEment (G.A.ME), Inc. aimed at preventing youth incarceration in New York City and nationwide.

Currently, African-Americans and Latinos make up 95% of all incarcerated youth in NYC and 2/3 nationally. Eighty-one percent of boys incarcerated are doomed to become recidivists within 30 months. The program was slated for a January 14 th 2006 orientation, but began early when an African-American 15-year-old teenager was charged with trespassing who faced 18-months after violating probation for missing curfew. The judge released the boy into R.E.B.E.L’s Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) program.

The R.E.B.E.L tour will offer a sound example of the work G.A.ME has done internationally and what it intends to do in the future with its International Artists Union, G.A.ME HealthCare Network and R.E.B.E.L program. Initially, the tour was produced to help local chapters develop their infrastructure and establish the R.E.B.E.L program. L. James, co-founder and executive director of G.A.ME, Inc. will provide local directors and organizers leadership tools on how to delegate responsibly, build membership, fundraise and organize overall on a grassroots level.

L’s first tour looks to be a historical undertaking since he is holding himself accountable for providing training to each local chapter and developing chapter. G.A.ME, Inc. has a 50% female portion in local chapter leadership and an 80% youth (21-25) leadership team overall. L. James said “The core reason for this trip is to build youth leadership internationally amongst the black, brown, and poor people so that G.A.ME becomes accountable for their development and stronger because of it.”

L will be stretching from the Bay Area to Lagos, Nigeria within 51 days conducting workshops. Organizations and institutions interested in L. James making a stop in their area should contact 917-239-8992 or Contact@kickgame.com. Oct. 10th is the deadline for additional locations.
