JJJJound Tease Upcoming Puma Suede Collaboration

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have heard of the Montreal-based brand ‘JJJJound’. What started as an online mood board has since become a brand and serial collaborator, working alongside the biggest brands in the sneaker market from New Balance, Vans and mostly recently, ASICS.

Taking a minimal approach to their work, JJJJound has been creating refreshing takes on classic products both within, and outside of fashion with a variety of collaborations with homeware brands in addition to their own line of accessories.

While releases have been drip fed to fans as the brand has evolved and grown since their initial project with Vans in 2017 on the Old Skool. With the increased popularity, comes a slew of releases which have enabled the brand to break into the mainstream by starting the year with their clean collaboration on the infamous BAPE STA featuring a clean white and light grey finish alongside premium detailing and minimal JJJJound branding.

This was swiftly followed by two colourways of the ever-popular New Balance 990V3 each of which featured a clean tonal design that, as with all JJJJound collaborations of late, saw an instant sellout.

However, the brand founded by Justin R. Saunders doesn’t just cater to the mainstream. Despite its growing success, they have been able to stay true to their ‘if you know you know’ style, going on to release their second collaboration with Reebok on the low-top 1985 NPC earlier in August, as well as two variations of the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14.

However, it appears that JJJJound are moving like Thanos, collecting a collaboration with as many of the big brands as possible.

A week after teasing an upcoming collaboration with Copenhagen-based homeware brand Tekla, JJJJound posted a teaser of their next sneaker collaboration, this time with Puma on their iconic Puma Suede. According to the caption on the image, the project is set to be a China-exclusive release, with no further inclination as to when we can expect to see it.

From the image, it can be seen that there are set to be two colourways in the works, one with a light grey finish and the other utilising a brighter cream look. Detailing, as always, is kept to a minimum with the usual gold ‘Puma’ on the lateral side in addition to a small embroidered ‘JJJJound’ logo on the heel.

The collaboration doesn’t make any amendments to the overall silhouette, originally released in 1970 alongside the similarly iconic Puma Clyde.

On the insole, a monogram JJJJound logo can be found as well as the classic Puma logo tongue tab being removed exposing full short-haired suede seen surrounding the entire silhouette.

As teaser images of the upcoming Puma x JJJJound collaboration have been released, it’s only a matter of time till we see official shots. At the rate the brand is going, the question is what else can we expect from JJJJound before the end of the year?
