The 3-Stripes have paid close attention in trying to perfect the colours of the upper, toning down the shade of orange stripes that were too bright on the ‘01 and ‘08 pairs. The suede tongue is also back, unlike the ‘01 version that featured the dimples like the rest of that year’s City Series, or even the all-leather tooling on the size? edition. As a final touch, adidas has reissued the classic gold foil lettering on the sidewall, a beautiful detail that has all but faded with time on the made in Yugoslavia pairs from the late ‘70s. Rounding off the package is the dark gum sole underfoot, a feature that once provided added grip but now completes the traditional aesthetic.
